Lizbeth’s love for art and her desire to help kids turn raw creative energy into awesome works of art made her the perfect workforce leader for a Green Works internship at Kansas City Young Audiences.
While the summer youth campers are virtual, Liz assisted in the office and in several virtual camps. She was able to see how the instructors interacted with the youth to achieve the highest level of engagement and fun during a camp session. And by being in the office, Lizbeth shared she also got to see that it takes many people, just not the instructor, working together to accomplish a successful camp.
“Behind the scenes there is more to being a teacher,” she says. “There is a lot of prep work and daily meetings to make things work. There are many points of views being shared. I see things in a new way due to my internship experience.”
Lizbeth will be a senior at Guadalupe Centers High School in the fall. Then she is off to college with a KC Scholars scholarship to study art.
