If ever there was a year that demonstrated the value of our work, it was 2020. With your support, we found in-person summer work experiences for our Excelerate high school students, provided summer and fall ECOS outdoor nature exploration for our younger students, and engaged our high schoolers in Green Ink outdoor service projects, and in-person classroom programming in the Green Works Lab.
Our board made brave decisions to keep our programs going and all our staff employed. Our staff updated procedures and managed COVID supplies. We doubled our classroom space and launched a retail social enterprise for even more real-world learning. Through it all you called, wrote checks, volunteered, offered advice and encouragement, donated furniture and kept supporting our work.
Together we created lots of smiles – smiles of relief, delight, happiness and humor. All so bright, they lit up faces behind the masks. And we did it all in a year when spending time in nature, and away from screens was more important than ever. Thank you for all you helped us accomplish!
